Corgis
My corgis have been with us for over 10 years now and one thing which hasn't changed is their presence in our homes and the fur they bring.
The golden strands,
strewn all over,
scattered all under,
stuck all around,
spotted on a pant leg
amidst a work meeting.
Black and white hairs,
speckled in tiles,
gathered in corners,
floating in bowls,
every spot at home
their little bodies go.
Grey rainy days,
muddy paw prints,
musky fur stinks,
damp dog smell,
fills the nostrils
with nature and animal.
Bright ice-cream trucks,
invite a bark,
trigger a howl,
yield a whimper,
something so joyous
generates much stress.
Two small beds,
under the stairs,
well slept in,
visibly dirty,
home is not just for four
make space for six.
